About life saving
St Kilda Beach Patrols
In St Kilda we patrol from Brooks Jetty to the St Kilda Pier on weekend and public holiday afternoons from November to April. With such a wide space to cover we take full advantage of using the ATV (All Terrain Vehicle) for patrols up and down the beach and using the IRB (Inflatable Rescue Boat) to patrol the rocks and around St Kilda Pier. Despite being a beach in the bay we still respond to a large number of rescues on the beach many of which are done with the IRB. We also receive many first aid requests due to the St Kilda Beach and boardwalk being filled with hundred’s (and sometimes thousands) of people everyday.
We ask all our members to contribute to 5 patrols during the season (4 regular patrol days and 1 public holiday).
