What if I can't swim?

Thats ok! We’ll teach you how! If you never want to learn to swim, or are physically unable to, then you could always consider other Lifesaving Qualifications such as awards first aid or radio operator and still be a contributing member to our patrolling team without being able to swim.

What if I work weekends?

Thats ok too – you can contribute to patrols on public holidays or be on a reserve listing for a call out on hot summer evenings when we put on additional patrols as part of our flexible service provision.

Can I be part of the club without being a lifesaver?

Yes absolutely. You can join as a social member or as an associate and be involved in our other activities including group fitness training and social events .

Does St Kilda LSC run nippers?

Unfortunately no, not right now. We recommend getting in touch with Elwood Life Saving Club, South Melbourne Life Saving Club or Port Melbourne Life Saving Club.

When is St Kilda LSC on patrol?

From Mid November to Mid April on Saturday, Sunday and Public Holiday afternoons.

Aren't Life Saving Services local government funded?

No. St Kilda Life Saving Club is not funded by any government organisation. We receive some support from the State and Federal government through small equipment and administration grants, and our new facility was a big investment by the City of Port Phillip (& State Government), but everything else we fundraise ourselves.

Does St Kilda LSC sell merchandise?

Stay tuned on this one – we are only just starting to set up items for sale! Once we are up and running we’ll be setting up an online store where you can purchase items as great souvenirs, gifts or training gear. Online shop hopefully coming in 2017.

Does St Kilda LSC hold Bronze Camps?

Not really. We don’t have any of our own accommodation as we are in a city location – so we run bronze courses that run over a series of weekends/weeks, not camps.

Does St Kilda have any accommodation?

No. As we are surrounded by lots of backpackers and hotel accommodation we have not developed our own club bunk rooms like some clubs down the coast. If you are looking for low cost accommodation in the local area we recommend you contact Habitat HQ www.habitathq.com.au/

Can St Kilda LSC provide water safety for my event?

St Kilda LSC lifesavers work hard to make sure our patrols are fulfilled every weekend over summer – and we are more than happy to help you with your event if we can spare the man power and equipment. Please send us an enquiry at the contact us page and we’ll discuss the requirements of your event. Alternatively Lifesaving Victoria can also provide paid lifeguards visit https://lifesavingvictoria.wufoo.com/forms/event-services-lifeguard-hire-form.
